About
Built by saw work and word of mouth.
Down to Earth Tree Service is family-run out of Guyton, GA. Steve Jeffers spent 16+ years running logging crews before spinning off into dedicated tree service — 45 years of careful saw work across Effingham, Savannah, and Bryan County.

The story
Steve started logging straight out of high school in 1981. For 16 to 18 years he ran logging crews across the southeast — full-size timber, full-time work.
When he was done logging, he and a friend started a tree service together because there weren't many around. He eventually spun off to run his own dedicated tree service, and that's the business still on the road today.
Forty-five years in the field is a long time to read trees. It's why we can look at a 60-foot pine leaning over a carport and tell you, before we touch a saw, exactly how it's going to come down. It's why we know when a hedge can be salvaged with a hard prune and when it's better off cleared.
The business runs steady year-round across Effingham County, the Savannah metro, and Bryan County. We aren't chasing volume — we work one job at a time and leave every yard cleaner than we found it.

Read the tree, drop it right, leave the yard cleaner than we found it.
How we've done it since 1981
What it means
Down to Earth, on purpose.
Tree service has a reputation for door-knockers, upsells, and big-dollar estimates that change after the work starts. That isn't how we operate. Estimates are free, prices don't move once we shake on the job, and the cleanup is part of the price every time.
Where we work.
Based in Guyton, we serve the whole of Effingham County — Rincon, Springfield — out across the Savannah metro through Pooler, Port Wentworth, Garden City, Bloomingdale, Tybee Island, and Wilmington Island — and down into Bryan County covering Richmond Hill, Pembroke, and Ellabell. If your property is in a neighboring town, give us a call and we'll let you know.
